Lawrence University’s celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will expand from a day of service and reflection on Jan. 16 to a multi-week observance that includes a series of speakers on issues of race and education.

Cael Neary ’17, an Appleton artist, created a bright, beautiful mural in the Gender and Sexuality Diversity Center in Lawrence’s Memorial Hall. They hope it makes the space more inviting for students.

The Lawrence Graduate Bayreuth Tuben Quintet, an unconventional ensemble led by Lawrence Conservatory professor Ann Ellsworth, released its debut album, which features mostly music from LGBTQ composers.

As part of an effort to partner with local salons and barbershops to provide accessible services to students of color, several hair stylists set up shop in Memorial Hall as part of the Hair Care Initiative.
