Featured Event: Black Feminist Fortnight A Celebration of Black Women and an Intersectional Approach to Black History Month and Women’s History Month February 25 – March 9, 2024
Every year, we celebrate Black History Month in February and Women’s History Month in March, and the lives and accomplishments and struggles of black women often get lost in the shuffle. This year, however, we propose bridging these two months of celebration with two weeks – a fortnight – to celebrate the achievements of black women.
This year’s inspiration comes from Lawrence selecting its first Black female president, President Laurie Carter, and the U.S. Supreme Court seating its first Black female justice, Justice Kentanji Brown Jackson.
