Studio Culture

From starting your day with your fellow musicians during group warm-ups to performing with them in ensembles large and small, you'll be part of a close group dedicated to the respect and support of fellow horn players. Meet your individual goals while getting a comprehensive training that emphasizes fundamental techniques and thorough musicianship. Gain knowledge of the natural horn, transposition, a broad range of repertoire, and historically informed performance practice. Focus on efficient sound production in all ranges and technique and fluency in the different styles from baroque to jazz to pop and more. Hone your skills through tutorials, practice, master classes, and performance.

You can make your own pop music video with the Lawrence University Studio Horns (LUSH), perform at formal community events, or serenade the campus during a meal. There are so many opportunities to perform, from bands and orchestras to specialty horn ensembles. The Lawrence Graduate Bayreuth Tuben Quintet (LGBTQ+) is designed to be the ultimate inclusive chamber music experience, celebrating underrepresented music and instruments while finding opportunities for socially conscious community performances.
