Course Planning for New and Exploring Students
Students begin the Business and Entrepreneurship major with three introductory courses:
- BUEN 100: Business and Society
- ECON 100: Introductory Economics
- BUEN 120: Fundamentals of Accounting
Students then move on to an intermediate group of core courses that add breadth of both perspective and skills in accounting and financial management, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
Declare a Major/Minor
All students are expected to declare a major before the end of sophomore year. Ideally, sophomore students will declare a major (and switch to an advisor in the major) before advance registration advising begins in spring term.
Major Advising
All students will transition to a major advisor upon declaration. The major advisor will help students plan their coursework to satisfy requirements for the major, select courses in other areas to complement the major or satisfy personal interests, and prepare for their Senior Experience. Prospective Business and Entrepreneurship majors can consult with any of the following faculty about serving as a major advisor:
- Claudena Skran, Edwin & Ruth West Professor of Economics and Social Science and Professor of Government
- Adam Galambos, Dwight and Marjorie Peterson Professor of Innovation and Associate Professor of Economics
- David Gerard, John R. Kimberly Distinguished Professor of the American Economic System and Associate Professor of Economics
- William Hixon, Gordon R. Clapp Chair of American Studies and Associate Professor of Government
- Jonathan Lhost, Associate Professor of Economics
- Martyn Smith, Associate Professor of Religious Studies
- Timothy X. Troy, J. Thomas and Julie E. Hurvis Professor of Theatre and Drama and Professor of Theatre Arts
- Brigid Vance, Associate Professor of History
