About

Zach Marley is an award-winning low brass artist and teacher. Equally versed on all low brass instruments, Zach has been very successful in international competitions on multiple instruments. He was awarded second prize in the prestigious Leonard Falcone Artist Tuba competition in 2015, 2016, and 2018. During the International Tuba Euphonium Conference in 2016, Zach was a semifinalist in the Artist Tuba competition and was awarded second prize in the Rich Matteson Jazz competition in which he played euphonium. At the 2017 International Women’s Brass Conference Zach won first prize on euphonium, second prize on tuba and third in the overall instrument round.

An active teacher as well as performer, Zach has had a private studio of both in person and virtual low brass students ranging from beginner to advanced. Prior to his appointment at Lawrance Conservatory, Zach held positions at several Universities including; the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Southeastern Oklahoma State and Tarleton State University.

Recently, Zach has completed his doctoral coursework and is now ABD at the University of North Texas. He also holds a masters degree in music performance from Northwestern University as well as two undergraduate degrees in jazz studies and music performance from the University of North Texas.

Zach can be heard on many recordings, movies and video games as well as through LowBrassU. He has reached many musicians through LowBrassU with millions of views on both Instagram and YouTube. Zach is an avid performer in all styles and is the bass trombonist for the Fargo Moorhead Symphony Orchestra and the JazzMN Jazz ensemble.

Zach Marley performs on XO and Jupiter brass instruments as well as Denis Wick mutes and mouthpieces.
