Some students get selected for verification by The Department of Education. This is to ensure the information on your FAFSA is reported accurately. 

If your FAFSA has been selected for verification, please follow the instructions below to complete the verification process. 

1. Verify household information
2. Verify parent income information
3. Verify student income information

Reminder: the 2025-26 FAFSA uses 2023 tax information. 

STEP 1: Verify Family Size

Most Lawrence students are considered "dependent" when applying for financial aid.

STEP 2: Verify Parent Income Information

Verify the parent income information in one of the following ways:

Option A: Parent(s) provides consent on the FAFSA to transfer federal tax information (FTI) directly from the IRS.

Option B: If the parent did not file a 2023 tax return and was not required to, please submit the 2025-26 Parent Non-Tax Filer form and copies of their 2023 W-2 forms (if applicable).

STEP 3: Verify Student Income Information

Verify the student's income information in one of the following ways:

Option A: Student provides consent on the FAFSA to transfer federal tax information (FTI) directly from the IRS.

Option B: If the student did not file a 2023 tax return and was not required to, please submit the 2025-26 Student Non-Tax Filer form and copies of your 2023 W-2 forms (if applicable)
