Sixteen Lawrence students and two faculty members traveled to The Gambia this spring for research and community outreach, part of the Field Experience in Development course. The students later showcased their research in poster presentations.

Lawrence University senior Safiya Grant, a biology major, finished in the money in The Pitch, an annual business startup competition for college students. Grant pitched her idea for Muse, an all-natural skin-care line of products.

Students from five colleges and universities in northeast Wisconsin will compete for $50,000 in prize money in a startup business pitch competition to be held April 24 in The Fox Club at Fox Cities Stadium.

Lawrence faculty are providing leadership as academic spaces are mapped out for the coming 315 E. College Avenue building and the nearby Fox Commons development, two transformational capital projects that will add layers to the student experience.

Adam Galambos has been one of Lawrence’s most visible faculty members. In addition to his teaching and economics research, he has been instrumental in development of the business and entrepreneurship major and planning for Fox Commons.

Recent Lawrence University graduates Alec Nguyen ’23 and Hung Nguyen ’23 have taken Afforai, a business startup idea they pitched in April at Launch LU, and secured a $100,000 investment from Sputnik ATX.

Jacob Dalton '17 came to Lawrence to study theatre arts. Along the way, he fell in love with filmmaking and has now launched a film business in Los Angeles.
