Rosa Tapia, a professor of Spanish at Lawrence University since 2002, has begun a four-year term as the national leader for the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish exam.

Lawrence University is mourning the passing of Ronald Mason, an accomplished archaeologist whose influence on the university’s anthropology program continues to be felt nearly three decades after his retirement from the faculty.

Lawrence University is welcoming nine new tenure-track faculty for the 2023-24 academic year. Another three have joined the faculty on long-term contracts. Two of the new tenure-track faculty have been hired into endowed positions.

Recent Lawrence University graduates Alec Nguyen ’23 and Hung Nguyen ’23 have taken Afforai, a business startup idea they pitched in April at Launch LU, and secured a $100,000 investment from Sputnik ATX.

Welcome Week ’23 will kick off Sept. 5 as Lawrence University welcomes incoming students in advance of the start of the 2023-24 academic year. Making connections will be the focus of orientation activities.

Lawrence University and Trout Museum of Art will partner to build a new four-story mixed-use building in the 300 block of E. College Avenue, providing a vibrant new home for the museum, new academic spaces for Lawrence, and market-rate housing.

Lawrence University is mourning the loss of Robert A. Anker ’64, a trustee emeritus and longtime friend and supporter of the university. He passed away Aug. 4 at age 81.
