How to Report Equity/Title IX Concerns

In an effort to ensure that you are making the best choice for you the Office of Equity and Title IX has outlined reporting options. Although our process is designed to keep people and our campus community safe, it is imperative that you make the best choice for you. You may elect to not report initially, but you are always welcome to report at a later date/time. If you elect to proceed with a report there are two reporting options: non-confidential and confidential. Non-confidential sources ensure that information is private, only those who need to know will know, but the situation may be investigated by the institution. Confidential sources offer an outlet with no notification to the Equity and Title IX Office regarding report specifics unless in extreme circumstances, the University will not be able to investigate confidential reports unless in extreme circumstances or if permission is granted.

All campus employees are considered Mandatory Reporters and Responsible Employees, meaning they are expected to notify Equity & Title IX of any reported instances of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking, or any information regarding sex discrimination or sex-based harassment, unless they are serving in their role as a confidential source or they experience it themselves.

If you have concerns about how information is stored, passed, and processed, or concerns about reporting, know that you are welcome to make an appointment with the Title IX Coordinator to talk through options before disclosing anything.

Who Can File A Report

Anyone can file a report online or with the Title IX Coordinator. Lawrence University takes all violations of Equity & Title IX seriously and therefore encourages any member of the community who has experienced sexual misconduct to report the incident to the Title IX Coordinator if they are interested in a non-confidential source. Limitations exist if persons are not part of the LU community; however, the Office of Equity and Title IX will work to stop, remedy and prevent behaviors that may be impacting our community.

The campus advocate, counselors, health care workers, and Deans of Religious and Spiritual Life are considered confidential resources. These are people on campus who, when serving in the capacity of their confidential role, are not required to report sexual misconduct but may do so with the permission of the person who disclosed the misconduct. Confidential resources will provide aggregate data, that without any specifics to our Clery Act reporting system to ensure appropriate representation of our campus crime statistics.

When to File A Report

An Equity or Title IX report may be submitted at any time, as there is no statute of limitations. The Office's ability to address the report may vary based on limiting factors, however, those will be discussed upon meeting should reporting parties elect to meet with a member of the office.
