There remain many 2024 summer and fall seminars choose from at Björklunden. Summer offerings include Allison Fleshman’s Chemistry of Art (which also features a beer-making workshop!); Arnie Shober’s This Land is Your Land, This Land is My Land: How Maps Shape the World; and local conservation legend Charlotte Lukes’ Fun with Fungi: Wild Mushrooms and their Relatives. The full tapestry of liberal learning flourishes in this summer extravaganza.

Then, in the fall, traditional week-long seminars as well as half-week seminars are being offered. There is an extensive array of offerings that embrace the arts including poetry, painting, performance, and media arts. For example, Lucy Park’s Sijo: Korea’s Poetry Form invites anyone curious enough to pick up a pen to practice this 700-year-old tradition. Kevin McCarty’s Deep Looking: Exploring Empathy Through Art reveals our humanity through contemporary art. Eric Simonson’s Astonish Us in the Morning: Artistic Collaborations in the 21st Century takes you into immersive experiences with groundbreaking performers as they create new works. Kim Blaeser’s Poetry of Spirit and Witness invites you to craft timely writings that heal and inspire. In addition, there will be dynamic teachers offering courses on electoral history and communicable diseases.

Be sure to check out seminar descriptions and other details at lawrence.edu/bjorkseminars while there’s still availability.
