Last May, spring term Student Seminars concluded with 350 Lawrence students and faculty participating in 24 retreats integrated into their academic schedules. Conservatory groups began offering free performances to Door County audiences for the first time since the pandemic. Time spent at Björklunden is a vital component of each student’s Lawrence experience. Because of support from people like you, Björklunden retreats remains free for students. Thank you!

Over summer and into fall, the Björklunden Seminar Program engaged 421 lifelong learners in 29 courses on such topics as contemporary politics, astronomy, history, ecology, geology, medicine, cognitive science, literature, and visual and performing arts. These seminar weeks offered time to dive deep into compelling subjects while enjoying the most beautiful time of the year on our campus.

Björklunden also hosted several exciting retreats, including the Indigenous Nations Poets’ Mentoring Retreat, Mielke Summer Institute for K-12 teachers in Appleton and Shawano school districts, the Tritone Jazz Fantasy Camp, the Door Kinetic Art Festival, the LUX Retreat for Lawrence emeriti faculty, and Lawrence University’s Class of 1963 60th reunion retreat.
