Lawrence University Community Council (LUCC) is the student branch of Lawrence’s shared governance council. More than a student government, LUCC’s decisions shape campus climate for faculty, staff, and students.

What is LUCC?

Composed of Class Representatives and Committee Members, LUCC fields and makes decisions on community concerns and issues with input from staff and faculty. LUCC also offers financial support to LUCC student organizations and Standing Committees.

Class Representatives are elected students from each class. Committee Members are appointed students with special interest in their committees' topics.

Governance Roles

LUCC critically shapes Lawrence University and student life in the following ways:

  • Approves and provides support to student organizations

  • Allocates funds for student-led and attended events

  • Delegates community concerns to respective areas of campus that can provide solutions

  • Provides student perspectives in LU’s administrative spaces
