COURSE NUMBERING INFORMATION:
At the beginning and intermediate levels, courses are
numbered to indicate relative difficulty, the lowest numbers identifying
those that require the least proficiency in Spanish. Courses numbered
101-202 are primarily language courses. They introduce the student
to the most important grammatical concepts and linguistic skills.
Courses
numbered in the 300's provide continued , advanced practice
in the language (grammar and phonetics), and introduce students
to the analysis of major literary texts and films.
400-level
courses deal with the culture and civilization of Spanish-speaking
countries.
Courses
at 500 level provide continued practice in all four language
skills and in advanced analysis of literary and cultural traditions
of specific periods and geographic regions, and emphasize selected
themes.
Tutorial
studies and independent projects can be pursued in courses numbered
in the X95s, with the approval of the Department Chairperson.
