A transcript is an extract of a student's academic record used to convey information about a student's academic performance to others. At Lawrence a transcript contains a record of all courses completed at Lawrence, notation of any other credit applied towards a Lawrence degree, credit and grade point totals, grade point averages, degrees conferred, academic standing, and identifying information linking the student to the record. An official transcript is certified as a true record through the use of a raised seal over the signature of the registrar. Official transcripts generally are sent directly to the recipient by the Registrar's Office. Official transcripts issued to the student will be marked as such and may not be accepted as valid by a third party.
How To Get An Official TranscriptCurrent and former students who need official transcripts of their academic work sent to prospective employers, graduate schools, or other parties must submit a signed request to the Registrar's office along with the appropriate fee. The request should include:
- your name, current address, and phone number where you can be reached during business hours
- former students should indicate the date they last attended and any name change
- complete name and address of the recipient
- number of copies required
- any deadline you may have
- any special handling instructions that might apply (see below)
- your signature
- $5.00 for each transcript requested
On average, transcripts are shipped within two to three business days of receipt of the request. Transcripts will be issued only for students whose account with Financial Services is clear. Current students should be aware that transcripts will not be released after the last day of classes until grades for the term have been posted and the academic action review has been completed.
Special Handling InstructionsOfficial transcripts are generally sent directly from the Registrar's Office to the recipient. Some graduate schools, however, require the transcript be included with the application. In this case, you should ask that your transcript be sent to you in a sealed envelope. All official transcripts released directly to students will have "issued to student" stamped on them.
The standard $5 fee per transcript covers shipment by U.S. Mail. Additional charges will be assessed for other delivery methods.
FAX: $2.00 for each transmission
Overnight or Two-Day Delivery: Please provide a pre-paid envelope from the carrier of your choice. Prices range from $7 to more than $60 depending on the carrier, destination, and delivery time.
