Frequently Asked Questions

What will Lawrence do with my gift?
Gifts made without restriction allow the college the most flexibility to meet the needs of the future. Donors may, however, wish to channel support to specific programs that are most meaningful to them personally. Enduringly important areas of interest include scholarships, support for the library and the academic program, and underwriting the purchase of instructional equipment.

Gifts of $100,000 or more may be used to establish an endowment fund that will link the donor's name to the college in perpetuity. Lawrence's conservative endowment management and spending guidelines call for only a portion of endowment total return to be spent each year. The remainder is left in the endowment, rather than being spent as income, to ensure that the "buying power" of endowment gifts will be preserved for the future.

Please feel free to discuss these issues with the Lawrence Development Staff. They can advise you of the best way to accomplish a meaningful result from your generosity.

Which options are right for me?
Individual circumstances dictate careful planning prior to any financial decision of magnitude. Lawrence is ready to assist you and your professional advisors in determining the best strategy for your situation.

Naming opportunities that mesh the interests of donors with the needs of the college are available for gifts to Lawrence. In addition to named endowed funds, gifts for building projects, instruments, and instructional equipment may present additional opportunities for appropriate and enduring recognition.
