Studio Art
An integral part of a liberal arts curriculum, the courses of the art department encourage aesthetic awareness and appreciation by emphasizing the interdependence of art-making, art history, and other creative and intellectual fields. Studio art majors choose among classes in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, and digital processes. Certification for teaching K-12 is available in conjunction with the studio art major. Students planning a major in studio art should take the introductory courses Art 100 and Art 110 in their freshman and sophomore years. Students may take a maximum of 21 credits in the art department, provided that no more than 15 are in either studio art or art history.
