The varsity ice hockey program at Lawrence was established in 1986. The NCAA Division III schedule, which runs from late October through the end of February, features matchups with a number of similar schools in the Midwest. The Vikings have been members of the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association since its inception in 1998.
The Vikings call The Appleton Family Ice Center home, and the team has a fully equipped locker room and training room at the facility. The Appleton Family Ice Center, one of the finest collegiate hockey facilities in the state, opened in 1999 and is located just a few miles from campus near the intersection of Northland Avenue and Ballard Road inside Memorial Park.
