Farnham Jarrard ’58 was awarded The George B. Walter ’36 Service to Society Award. Farnham Jarrard has enjoyed a rewarding career in the steel industry, holding executive leadership positions at Allied Structural Steel (Hammond, Indiana), and Bristol Steel and Iron (Bristol, Virginia). In 1989 he was awarded a lifetime honorary directorship in the American Institute of Steel Construction. Jarrard has also served on as mayor of Bristol and was instrumental in efforts to try to reestablish passenger rail service between southwestern Virginia and Washington, D.C. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for Virginia Intermont College.
