Mission and Background
The mission of the Networking Committee is to identify and support initiatives which enhance and enable professional networking among alumni, students and faculty. Networking projects include a number of ongoing initiatives:
- The Voyager for Alumni website, which includes alumni contact information in a searchable database
- City Guides, a resource for alumni who move to a new city
- A Freshman Studies site with reading guides and information on forming a book club
- Researching existing networking sites as venues for future initiatives
- Providing support to the work of the Life After Lawrence Task Force (created by Jill Beck to identify strategies to support alumni networking in the first three years after graduation, and with transitions later in their careers)
2007-2008 Accomplishments
- Coordinated and participated in a very successful spring networking event between students and LUAA Board directors
- Maintained and expanded online city guides
- Evaluated the content and design of the “Freshman Studies for Alumni” website, and recommended strategies for publicizing the site
- Promoted Voyager for Alumni to juniors and seniors
- Wrote personal notes to congratulate newly tenured faculty members
