Lawrence has Momentum!
With the opening of the Richard and Margot Warch Campus Center, exciting new initiatives including Posse Scholars and Lawrence Fellows in the Liberal Arts and Sciences , and a growing national reputation, Lawrence clearly has momentum despite these tough economic times. Take a look at our recently produced student video featuring President Beck on the topic of momentum. Please enjoy the video and a sneak peak inside the new Warch Campus Center, which opens September 2009.
Lawrence’s success and growing momentum is directly related to support from alumni, parents, and friends of the college. We are exceedingly grateful for the robust and dedicated support of the Lawrence constituency. Thank you!
Trustee Triple Treat Announced for LU Alumni
All alumni who make a gift to The Lawrence Fund before June 30, 2009 will have every dollar of their gift matched by two dollars from three LU trustees, tripling the gift! A $100 donation is matched with $200 from the trustees, creating a $300 gift to Lawrence. The Trustee Triple Treat is a unique opportunity to multiply your donation and magnify the impact it has on the college, allowing students to grow and prosper in remarkable, meaningful ways. Please give.

Lawrence Bids Farewell to Conductor Rick Bjella
The Lawrence Concert choir, Cantala women’s choir and Viking chorale presented their 11th annual “Around the World” concert Friday, May 29 at 8 p.m. in the Lawrence Memorial Chapel. The performance will be the last under the direction of long-time conductor Rick Bjella, who has directed the choir program since 1984. Bjella recently announced he is leaving Lawrence at the end of the school year to become the director of choral studies at Texas Tech University.
Recapping Lawrence's Earth Week Celebration
Lawrence University marked Earth Day's 29th birthday in April with a week-long series of events.
The
Green Roots: The Sustainable Lawrence Initiative, one of the celebration sponsors, was hoping " to engage the broader Fox Cities community in discussions of timely and locally relevant environmental issues such as local food systems and agriculture, waste and recycling and artistic expressions of the environment."
Visit the Lawrence University blog to learn more about the activities that took place.

Alumni Spotlight
Shine Light, More Light on Your Future
In February, Lawrence hosted the second "Shine Light, More Light on Your Future" conference for Lawrence students. Over 50 alumni generously volunteered their time and energy to return to campus and offer their insights and resources on various aspects of life after Lawrence with over 150 Lawrence students. Conference sessions covered topics from cultural identity to interviewing and resumes to specific career paths.
Thank you to all alumni who participated and helped our students in this extremely important way!
If you are interested in helping students with life after Lawrence in any way, please send a note to alumni@lawrence.edu.
