2009-2010 Academic Year
- Ghanaian Dance Workshop provided students the opportunity to learn both individual and group dances of West Africa from Ghana native Nani Agbeli. Two two-hour African Drumming and Dancing classes were offered and well-attended. This program was planned by Paul Stevens ’10, Harji Bedi ’09, and Professor Dane Richeson (October 30-November 1, 2009)
2008-2009 Academic Year
- LU Bikes! is a bicycle loan program for Lawrence students. Student can check out bikes and helmets from the Warch Campus Center for use in the Fox Valley. This program was initiated by Hayley Vatch '09 and supported by the Outdoor Recreation Club, the Campus Center, and the Green Roots Initiative.
- Students of Lawrence (SOL) Studio is a pre-professional recording studio for any Lawrence student with original material, founded by Vince Dyer '10 and Casey Shaw '11. The funds from the Class of 1965 Grant will go toward start-up and equipment costs for the studio.
2007-2008 Academic Year
- Symphonic Poetry in Motion was the senior project of Ross Ipsen '07. To illuminate the influences of different arts upon each other and the value of their interaction, Ross conducted a 50-piece orchestra, with each piece accompanied by poetry, theater, or film. (May 25, 2008)
- Alternative Giving Fair raised funds for non-profits through the sale of "alternative gifts." Alternative gifts are donations to charity organizations in honor of the gift recipient, and tangible gifts made by people in developing countries. Organized by Students' War Against Hunger and Poverty (SWAHP). (December 1, 2007)
2006-2007 Acadmic Year
- Ben Stein, actor, columnist, and author, spoke on "How to ruin your life" to a sold-out crowd in the Lawrence Chapel. Sponsored by the Lawrence University College Republicans. (May 9, 2007)
- Sexuality Awareness Fair featured activities, quizzes, and information to promote the open discussion of sexuality. Sponsored by V-Day. (May 8, 2007)
- Energy Speaker Series brought many experts in solar, wind, nuclear, biofuel, and hydro-electric energy systems to Lawrence to increase awareness of energy efficiency and alternative energy sources. Sponsored by Greenfire. (April 13, 14, and 17, 2007)
- Cultural Expressions featured various forms of entertainment by Lawrence students, such as singing, instrumental music, dance, and spoken word, to spread knowledge of Black heritage and culture. Sponsored by Black Organization of Students. (February 3, 2007)
- Christmas of Hope raised funds on campus to purchase and deliver Christmas gifts for the families of chronically ill children at UW-Madison Children's Hospital. Sponsored by Jessica Obermeier '09. (November-January, 2006-07)
2005-2006 Academic Year
- An Evening of American One-Act Opera, produced by Matthew Murphy, '06, and sponsored in part by Theatre Arts and Vocal Studies departments. The cast, crew, and artistic staff were all students. (May 28-29, 2006)
- "Marx in Soho" a theatrical production where Karl Marx returns to earth to defend his name. Sponsored by Students for Leftist Action. (May 13, 2006).
- Lawrence Swing Dance Weekend, by The Lawrence Swing Dance Group, with professional instructory and evening dances (April 15, 2006).
- Community Service Calendar, by the Volunteer and Community Service Center. (Winter, 2006).
2004-2005 Academic Year
- Organic Garden planting and fence building by the Lawrence University Organic Garden Club. (May 14-15, 2005).
- Live Band Swing Dance, with performance by The King Comets and free lessons. Organized by Lawrence Swing Dance. (May 21 ,2005).
- Dido and Aeneas, a performance of the Baroque opera by Henry Purcell. Produced by Susan Platz, '05. (March 31-April 2, 2005).
- Homelessness Today, Housing Tomorrow panel featured Jeff Newton, volunteer, Chicago Coalition for the Homeless (presently homeless), Cary Martin, Northwestern Law School (formerly homeless), and Deb Cronmiller, director, Fox Valley Emergency Shelter. Organized by the Volunteer and Community Service Center.(February 16, 2005)
2003-2004 Academic Year
- Dinesh D'Souza address, "What's So Great About America", examined various critiques about America. D'Souza is a former advisor to President Reagan, a contributor to the National Review, and author of the book "What's So Great About America". Event organized by the College Republicans. (May 20, 2004)
- Battle of the Bands, organized by Fred Dias, '05, Zach Brown, '05, and SOUP. (May 1, 2004)
- "The Thin Line", a one woman show about a personal struggle with disordered eating, as part of Eating Disorder Awareness Week, 2004. Organized by the Wellness Committee. (February 22, 2004)
- "The Faces of Homelessness", a National Coalition for the Homeless panel consisting of one moderator and three homeless individuals. Organized by the Volunteer and Community Service Center. (February 18, 2004)
- "Wrap a mandala / around me so that I may / become transcendent", an art performance by Nolan Riegler, '04. (January 12-18, 2004)
