Application types explained
Early Decision
If Lawrence is clearly your first-choice college, you may take advantage of our binding Early Decision option. Doing so will guarantee that you will receive a decision on your application early in your senior year. If you are offered admission, you will not need to complete unnecessary multiple college applications. If we do not offer you admission, you will have ample time to apply to other colleges before all application deadlines have passed.
If you are admitted under the Early Decision option, you must submit a $200 non-refundable enrollment deposit not later than four weeks after we notify you of admission or four weeks after you receive a tentative financial aid award, if you are applying for financial aid.
This is a binding decision, and you will be required to co-sign a form with your high school counselor stating that you are enrolling at Lawrence and will withdraw all applications submitted to other colleges and file no additional applications.
You will receive one of three decisions:
- You are admitted and expected to enroll.
- We wish to obtain further information about you and will defer our final decision until the Regular Decision notification date (prior to April 1).
- You are not offered admission and should apply elsewhere.
If you indicate an intent to apply for financial aid on your application, we will send you an Early Estimator Form that will allow us to analyze your family's financial situation. If you are offered admission to Lawrence, you will receive a tentative financial aid award based on the information you provide. To confirm your financial aid award, you must submit all required financial aid documents at the appropriate time.
If you are unsure that Lawrence is your first choice, you should apply under either the Early Action or the Regular Decision deadline.
If you apply to Lawrence by December 1, you will receive a non-binding admission decision by January 15 under the Early Action option. If you are admitted, a non-refundable deposit of $200 is due by May 1, the Candidate Reply Date observed by most U.S. colleges.
Applications must be postmarked or submitted electronically by January 15. We will notify you of our decision on or before April 1. If you are admitted, a non-refundable deposit of $200 is due by May 1, the Candidate Reply Date observed by most U.S. colleges.
