Confirming Your Enrollment

Paperwork

Now that you’ve been admitted to Lawrence, let the fun begin. It all starts with the important paperwork below, all of which you should submit in the envelope we have provided. (That way we can keep all of your paperwork together.)

Deposit and Enrollment Decision Card
Please use the enclosed card to notify us of your enrollment decision—which we hope, of course, is a big “yes” to Lawrence—and to submit your $200 continuing enrollment deposit.

We will refund your deposit to you upon your graduation from Lawrence. (Please note that the deposit is not refundable if you later choose not to attend Lawrence.) If you have difficulty submitting the full $200 deposit at this time, please contact our office to arrange a payment plan.

If you decide to enroll somewhere else—and we hope you don’t—please notify us as soon as possible using the enclosed enrollment card. That way, we can offer your place in the class to another deserving student.

Lawrence University Housing Selection Form
Please complete this one as thoughtfully and honestly as possible. Doing so will help our residence life staff assign you to a room and match you with a roommate whose answers mesh well with the answers you provide on the form.

Lawrence University Residence Hall Terms of Agreement and Conditions of Occupancy
Please review and sign this one, which includes Lawrence’s residence hall bill of rights. (We’ve included a second copy of this form for your own records.)

As a close-knit residential community, Lawrence University expects students to live on campus.* Accordingly, we guarantee housing to our students.

College Credit

College-level courses
If you have completed any college-level courses prior to enrolling at Lawrence, please arrange for your official* college transcript(s) and course descriptions to be sent to our office as soon as possible. If the college-level course was taught in your high school and it appears on your high school transcript, we will still need to receive the official college transcript in order for our registrar to evaluate the course for credit at Lawrence.

*To be considered “official,” transcripts must come directly from the college’s registrar to our office.

Examinations
If you have completed any exams for college credit (e.g., Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate), please arrange for your test results to be sent to our office as soon as possible.

• Advanced Placement exams: Lawrence typically awards credit for scores of 4 or 5.

• International Baccalaureate: Lawrence awards substantial credit to students who have scored 5 or higher on all exams in the course of achieving an IB diploma. Students who score below 5 on any exam, but who complete the IB diploma may receive whole or partial course credit for each grade of 5 or higher on higher- or subsidiary-level exams. Students who complete individual courses in the IB program, but who are not diploma candidates, will receive credit for each grade of 5 or higher on higher-level exams. (Lawrence awards credit only for those IB courses for which we offer a similar course.)

Final Transcript

Please arrange to have your college counseling or guidance office send us your final high school transcript upon graduation.

Mail (much more mail)

Coming this summer to a mailbox near you:

• Late June: Some schools have their students register over the summer online or at on-campus summer orientation or preview programs. Lawrence is old-school (and proud of it): you’ll pre-register from home (on paper, no less) over the summer using the packet you’ll receive from our Student Academic Services office. You’ll officially register on campus during Welcome Week in September.

• Early July: You’ll receive from the dean of students: housing assignments, Welcome Week schedule, dining services, access to Voyager (Lawrence’s online student information system), your email address, and campus arrival information.

• Late July: billing information

• Late summer: student employment information
